inoX-tech GmbH: Large RHEV deployment at "Bundesamt für Wasserbau"

Schedule:
2011-06-06 15:20 - 16:00
Abstract:

Aim of the project was the implementation of a RHEV environment which is capable to run about 300 virtual machines, distributed on 2 datacenter sites to survive a complete loss of one datacenter (high availability).

The virtual machines must be able to host RHEL 5, RHEL 6, SuSE10 and Windows 2003/2008 operating systems.

A further demand of the customer was to convert the existing machines into RHEV (p2v) and get easy administration by using Red Hat Network Satellite Server.

Key Parameters:

  • Solution consists of 30 physical HP DL 380 G7 servers as hypervisors.
  • Management Servers running Red Hat Cluster Suite: 2 FSC RX600 machines for the infrastructure services (Red Hat Satellite, DNS, LDAP, RHEV-Manager)
  • Solution is distributed/separated on 2 data centers to grant highest availability

Uncover and Address the Hidden Costs of UNIX to Linux Migrations with MoveOp Migration Readiness Master

Schedule:
2011-06-06 17:15 - 17:55
Abstract:

All too often when companies consider migrations from UNIX to Linux they only focus on the before and after costs. Of course, achieving a lower TCO is the goal, but savvy IT organizations understand that if they can’t manage their migration costs the lowered TCO could be lost before the migration is done.

Join Andrew Galewsky, MoveOp CTO, for the session “Uncover and Address the Hidden Costs of UNIX to Linux Migrations with MoveOp” for a business and technical discussion on the process of migration to Linux and understand how MoveOp software reduces risk, cost and complexity in migrating to Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Here are just a few of key benefits MoveOp Migration Readiness Master delivers within the migration process:

Planning: Automation of candidate system inventory/data collection with detailed mapping to candidate target Linux distributions and associated suitability scoring for each. The result is greatly reduced waiting times for client data, with improved data depth and accuracy, as well as automated, detailed suitability reports that you can share with clients and use for prioritization of candidate systems for migration.

Abstract:

In this session, Hermes de Backere and Tim Peeters will discuss the migration from IBM WebSphere Application Server to JBoss Enterprise Application Platform. We'll have a quick look at the architecture and the products used, including mod_cluster and JBoss Operations Network.

We'll zoom in on a specific requirement from the client to be able to do automated deployments on the new JBoss infrastructure. In today's landscape, releases are delivered on a frequent, regular basis. We left behind manual and semi-scripted deployments to integrate the customers' continuous integration environment, Maven repository manager and Subversion repository. We'll show you how you can lower operating costs and decrease the number of deployment errors drastically by eliminating inefficiencies
in the deployment process.
